The Augustines
of the Mercy
of Jesus
The first three Augustines of the Mercy of Jesus arrived in New France in 1639 to establish a monastery and found the Hôtel-Dieu de Québec, the first hospital in North America.
Their apostolic mission of mercy is carried out by caring for the poor and the sick, attending to both body and soul.
By tending to physical and spiritual health in this way, they strive to give a human face to Love. Today, they continue their spiritual and community mission, responding to the needs of both the Church and society.
