The
Catherine-de-Saint-Augustin
Center
The Catherine-de-Saint-Augustin Center is a space dedicated to preserving and sharing the spiritual heritage of Blessed Marie-Catherine de Saint-Augustin (1632–1668). She is a key figure among the Augustines of the Mercy of Jesus, their hospital work in New France, as well as a co-founder of the Canadian Church.
Located in the heart of Le Montastère des Augustines in Quebec City (a living heritage site), the Catherine-de-Saint-Augustin Center honors the memory of this devoted mystic, who dedicated her life to serving the poor and the sick, without distinction of ethnicity, culture, or religion.
Mission and Objectives
The Catherine Center promotes the mystical life and spirituality of Marie-Catherine de Saint-Augustin, a Hospitaller nun who played a pivotal role in founding the Hôtel-Dieu of Quebec. Its mission is to share her message of love and Christian charity through individual and group pilgrimages, guided tours, and spiritual activities.
Place of reflection and devotion
The Center is a pilgrimage site for the faithful who wish to pray and seek the intercession of the Blessed Marie-Catherine de Saint-Augustin. Her reliquary is preserved in the historic church of the Augustines of the Hôtel-Dieu of Quebec, where visitors can come to reflect. Religious services and Masses held at the Catherine Center or nearby in the choir offer special opportunities to deepen one’s Christian faith while discovering the charism of the Augustines of the Mercy of Jesus.
